Diffusion of Innovations - Apple Watch

The Innovation Itself

A recent invention that I cannot go without is my Apple Watch. Apple created a watch and combined the use of a watch with the use of a smart device. My Apple Watch can call and text people, and it also holds photos and reminders. Since the first rollout of the product in 2015, there have been modifications and increasing features and benefits. Now, the Apple Watch has many health benefits and monitors things such as heart rate, sleep, steps taken in a day, etc.

The Apple Watch has changed the way people communicate. It allows notifications to be received better while also aiding a path to a healthier life.  The Apple Watch is now personalizable with different watch bands and colors, making it unique for every customer.

How it Was Adopted

The Apple Watch was an instant hit. In 2015 it sold around 4 million, giving Apple more profit than ever. When considering the Diffusion of Innovations theory, one can suggest the early adaptors were Apple people -- aka those with Apple products. Other smartwatches had previously existed, but now this one allowed for you to link up with your other Apple devices, which offered ease and accessibility.

Good or Not?

I believe that the Apple Watch thus far has been a good thing. I wear mine almost every day. I call people on it, get notifications on it, text people and can even use GPS. There can be some negatives, however, such as radiation or inability to catch a break from technology.
