The Supreme Court

The Supreme Court, made of marble, is what makes the United States different than other countries. It ensures every individual's freedom and it carefully considers the integrity of the government. The Supreme Court resembles structure and it is the most powerful judicial body in the world. The power of the Supreme Court resides in the 200-year-old constitution. John Marshall, a notable figure, was the first to challenge a congressional decision, giving the supreme court respect and trust from the people. 

The Justices

There are nine Supreme Court Justices. They get thousands of cases a day, although only about 100 reach the courtroom. After hearing the lawyers argue their case, the nine congregate alone about the matter. Decisions usually take weeks, but every decision is published for the public to see. They serve the people and are appointed by presidents. Justices usually remain for decades, serving the people honorably. 

Importance of it All 

The Supreme Court considers the principles of things beyond politics. They look at cases in black and white, rather in shades of grey. They want to ensure the law is being acted according to the Constitution. This is important because it distinguishes the United States from other countries, but also because it demonstrates the importance of doing the right thing. Many times today, we see unfair trials and unfair rulings. The United States secures that won't happen with the Supreme Court. It is something to be proud of and something that should make everyone feel safe.
